How to Travel With a 9–5: Making Weekends Count

I’m Ivy 👋
I started Weekends with Ivy as a passion project in the hope of reaching others who share the same love for travel that I’ve chased throughout my life.
After entering my thirties (I won’t say how far 😉), I couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret that I didn’t travel even more in my twenties. I did the classic trips - backpacking, working summers in Spain, and of course the rite of passage that is a solo trip to Southeast Asia - but it never felt like enough. I always wanted more time, more places, more experiences.
Then reality set in. I needed a full‑time job to pay the bills and, somewhere along the way, travel started to feel like something you do before adulthood - not alongside it.
I’m not here to tell you to quit your job and travel the world. I’m not here to sell you a course that promises remote working and sunsets forever. I’m here to show you that even with a full‑time job and even after your twenties you can still prioritise travel and make it part of your lifestyle.
I'll share how I budget for trips, where to stay once you’ve outgrown hostels but still don’t want to break the bank, where to eat the most authentic food, and where to find the best spots for those holiday photos. I’ll be that organised, well‑travelled friend who plans the trip for you. I hope this blog becomes a useful resource for anyone who still longs for the thrill of travelling but works full time and doesn’t know where to start.
Let me help you make weekends count.
